Floors Castle is the seat of the
Duke of Roxburghe. The castle is located near the town of Kelso, and is currently an A listed
building.
Floors Castle - Short
History
The 1st Duke of Roxburghe employed William Adam to
design the present large mansion (the largest in Scotland) which was erected between 1721 and
1726. In 1837-47, William Playfair made alterations to the building, leaving it with a more
romantic roofscape. The central block rises four storeys in height, with five in the towers,
and is built of random rubble.
